Classics meet salsa!

We are five musicians with quite different musical backgrounds, but with a mutual interest in classical Cuban and European music and their common roots in African rhythmic tradition.

Music samples:

CrossCuba consists of :

  • Cuban dancer and singer, Grisell Gonzales Bravo, who was educated as a dancer in Havana.
  • Percussion player, Bo Johansen, who also studied in Cuba , and is performing with several Latin groups in Denmark.
  • Three woodwinds trained as professionals at major Danish music academies: Oboe, Henrik Hjorth Findsen. Clarinet, Anders Christensen. Bassoon, Uffe Munkgaard.

Our music ranges from Bach, Mozart and Afrocuban dance over Cuban contradanzas and music from the 1920's to Tango Nuevo. The music has been caracterised as classical worldmusic.

CrossCuba has performed in Denmark and Berlin since 2001.
